Free Credit Report
(There's Only One Way To Get a Free Credit
Report and You
're Entitled to It by Law)

When the catchy advertisements for FREE Credit Reports started running, no one had any idea how popular they’d be. The tune, theme and message became such a hit that the ads were placed on Youtube. But there’s a major problem, virtually every website advertising free credit reports is actually not providing free credit reports. They are secretly selling a credit monitoring service and using the free credit report as bait. Once a person goes to these websites, provides the requested information and clicks the submit button. They will be charged a monthly FEE! Here’s the only way to acquire a free credit report.

The Bold Print Giveth and The Small Print Taketh Away
The complaints against the Free Credit Report websites have been steadily increasing. The issue at hand is the fact that although they advertise free credit reports, they are actually selling a credit monitoring service. Once a person signs up, they will be billed anywhere from $12.95 to 19.95 per month until they follow the cancellation procedures of each individual company.

One such company that advertises free credit report just recently put this disclaimer on their popular television advertisements, “Offer Applies to Enrollment in Triple Advantage Plan” What they’re saying is, if you want us provide you with free credit reports, you MUST sign up for our credit monitoring plan. They placed that disclaimer on their ads after pressure from Consumer Advocates and various Citizen Groups.

Surfing the Web For Free Credit Reports Can Be a Hassle
The average consumer goes to their search engine of choice and types is, "Free Credit Report" hoping to quickly find the website, order their credit reports and be done with it. However, the majority of websites that are at the top of the listings don't offer anything for free. Almost all of them are either selling credit monitoring services, identity theft services, or they are phishing hoaxes designed to grab your credit card information and social security number. These sites are using the classic bait and switch trick to gain unsuspecting customers and victims.

CONSUMER ALERT: Many of these websites look legitimate, but remember; looks can be deceiving!

If you’ve recently surfed one of these websites and provided your personal information thinking they were giving you something for free, it is imperative that you cancel any recurring billing immediately. It is practically impossible to get a refund on any past billings.

There’s Only One Way To Get Your Credit Reports For Free
Per the (FTC) Federal Trade Commission, there is only one website is authorized to give out free credit reports. This next statement comes directly from the FTC website:

"Important information from the Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency: annualcreditreport.com is the ONLY authorized online source for you to get a free credit report under federal law. You can get a free report from each of the three national credit reporting companies every 12 months. Some other sites claim to offer 'free' credit reports, but may charge you for another product if you accept a 'free' report."

CONSUMER ALERT: If you didn’t go through the website mentioned by the FTC, you signed for some time of recurring billing; meaning that they will charge your credit card every month until you follow their instructions and cancel their service

CONSUMER ALERT: The AnnualCreditReport.com website is easy to use and you can access all three credit reports without paying a cent. If you are not Internet savvy, you can order your credit reports by phone by calling: 877-322-8228.

CONSUMER NOTE: you can only request one free credit report from each of the three credit reporting bureaus each year. Anything more, and you will have to pay.
